The United States is increasingly using chip cards used in chip readers, as chip technology has reduced fraud in more than 135 countries around the world. This is already the norm in Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe and Asia and is always the industry standard in the United States.

Where is it possible to use my smart card in the United States?

Because your card has a magnetic stripe and an integrated chip, you can use it anywhere in the United States. They accept Chase’s card. You’ll notice that more and more retailers and ATMs accept smart cards.

Do I still have to sign the reverse of my card?

Yes, you must add a signature at the back of your Chase card for security reasons.

Is it possible to use my old card?

No, your new built-in smart card replaces your previous card and offers the same functionality and benefits you presently have. To get rid of your old card correctly, you must destroy it or cut it. If you still have a metal card, send it to Chase Bank in the envelope that comes with your new card.

If I don’t need a smart card, can I have a nonsmart card?

No. Chase is linked to card security, and chip secure technology is an excellent and proven tool to combat counterfeiting. All products, credits and direct debits will make the transition to the chip. In fact, the entire industry in the United States is changing to chip technology.

How do I pay with a card reader whose chip is not activated?

Your card always includes a magnetic stripe at the back, so you can drag it to a traditional card reader as usual.

How can I activate a smart card for Internet and phone transactions?

Your Internet and phone companies work the same way they do today.

What happens to recurring payments on my previous card?

When you receive a new card, traders will inform you that they are charging your card and give you their card number, expiration date, and three-digit security code.

Can cards be loaded into a digital wallet with a chip (Apple Pay, Softcard, Visa Checkout, Google Wallet, etc.)?

Increase your card with a chip in any digital wallet by accepting Chase cards as a means of payment.
