Do not swipe the card into the retailer’s card reader, instead you have to insert the card. Put the card in the smart card reader until the purchase is done. If a signature is required, sign and always carry your card when finished.

Internationally, the chip has already been accepted as an industry standard. You can use your chip card if you accept Visa and MasterCard. With Visa or MasterCard, you must now accept payments with or without a PIN according to your new policies. If a retailer/kiosk requests a PIN, first make sure that Visa or MasterCard is accepted. If your card reader still does not accept a PIN, there may be employees in the area that support it. Otherwise, in this case, the local currency may be required.

If a merchant asks for a PIN, say that the card just requires a signature for verification. If the merchant’s card reader requests a PIN, you can cancel the registration request. It also inserts the PIN request or ignores the continuation.

Do I have to pay all charges to use my Smart credit card?
